I’m not sure where George Orwell got the idea for “1984”.
I’ve read the book five or six times in my life and it doesn’t
have the aroma of a single “Eureka!” moment. Nor do I
suspect that he had a deadline and a minimum wordcount to
work towards, and after a frustratingly unsatisfying morning
